Religion/Cultural Studies
I am struggling with what and how to teach Truman about world religions, given that our beliefs do not align with any one religion. I want him to have a working knowledge of all of the major religions, and to enjoy a sense of spirituality, while still remaining objective. Our local Unitarian Church is currently without a leader, but we didn't go regularly anyway, and there are no Buddhist temples on the peninsula, not that we are Buddhists. My plan is to read to him from the following selection of books, and to discuss with Daddy at the Table-

What Do You Stand For? For Kids- A Guide to building Character by Barbara Lewis
Meet Jesus-The Life and Lessons of a Beloved Teacher by Lynn Gunney
Humanism, What's That? A Book for Curious Kids by Helen Bennett
Unitarian Universalism is a Really Long Name by Jennifer Dant
Sacred Myths-Stories of World Religions by Maryland McFarland (35 stories)
The Children's Illustated Bible (Stories) by David Christie-Murray (from my childhood) gorgeous
    illustrations!
Peaceful Piggy Meditation by Keryy Mclean
Buddha at Bedtime: Tales of Love and Wisdom for You to Read with Your Child to Enchant, Enlighten
     and Inspire - Dharmachari Nagaraja

My reading on the subject;

Raising Freethinkers, A Practical Guide for Parenting Beyond Belief by Dale McGowan
Buddhism for Mothers-A Calm Approach to Caring for yourself and your children
Simplicity Parenting: Using the Extraordinary Power of Less to Raise Calmer, Happier, and More Secure Kids - Kim John Payne
